Sunday was a perfect day to head out to one of my favourite spots such as Stone’s Marina; a 10 minute ride on a bicycle from downtown Nanaimo. Unfortunately, the usual colorful work boats were not moored in their old locations; instead some sleek touring vessels were occupying the docks today.
So I opted to draw the Irish Bar with the red roofs. After lunch, there was enough time and energy left to start another sketch looking across the highway to what used to the other side of the gorge, that got filled in with coal mine tailings about a century ago. Anyways, a nice quite spot on a parking lot along Steward Avenue that is abandoned on Sundays.
