Plein-air pen and wash on paper

Monday’s Paintout

Monday mornings I join a group of people for a plein air outing here in Nanaimo or surrounding area. Today was a nice day and the assigned location was only walking distance away from our apartment, so I was eager to make something out of it. I settled down under a tree on the lawn of the Oak Tree Manor after asking permission and made this sketch.

It had fun for about an hour or so, using my old paintbox and brushes on a Fabriano paper surface. It worked so much better than my moleskine sketchbook and the “koi” watercolor brush pen that I took along on our holidays in Holland.
