Sketch-It

Plein-air pen and wash on paper

This sketch of the “Fiztwilliam Gate” was produced on a 9″x12″ sheet of water media paper or cartridge paper which is not very expensive to buy. Unfortunately, colors appear to be loosing luminousity after the wash is dry, not very stimulating while working on it.

However, it is amazing how colors change when one makes a photograph or a scan using digital equipment and then looks at it on a computer screen, tablet or similar gadget. It appears to be somewhat similar to a stained glass window where the image is illuminated from a light source coming from behind.

Anyways, I have to develop this picture into a “half sheet” size, about 15″x20″ starting out by experimenting with smaller sizes. Eventually I will advance to a larger sheet of  paper with a good quality surface.
