The cold weather and the snow is persisting, preventing me from sketching outside but keeping me indoors instead.
I continue to practice watercolor painting from photographs that depict the harbourfront from slightly different viewpoints and lighting conditions. Here is one of them.
I also try to use this idle time for copying “demonstrations” from water color “how-to” books.
The sketching and painting phases of this process is more engaging, challenging and exciting when working from reality instead of photos or books. Today, I dicided to leave earlier to stop by the library on my way home from the studio, to convince myself that it is still possible to make quick sketches such as the one shown below. For this, a pen was used with black, non-waterproof ink, and a pentel water brush pen to spread some of the ink around.
Usually, someone is sitting at these tables reading a book, but not this time. Looking out one can see a section of the backside of the theatre and the top of a rockbluff with some trees, where the militairy museum is located.
