Too Close for Comfort


The one place that I found this morning for a quick sketch was under the bastion on a bench about 20 feet in front of this structure; in the sun and protected from the wind but way too close to the subject.

Drawing so close-up up presents some challenges, perspective mostly. It also takes a lot of careful measuring with the pen at the end of your arm that is fully stretched out.

Notice that the architect who designed the hotel tower shown in the background mimicked the shape of the bastion.
